The hotel fills the upper floors of a tower in Kamiyacho, and a walkway from Kamiyacho Station on the Hibiya Line brings you up to its door. Tokyo Tower is about a ten-minute stroll away, and Roppongi and Ginza are a short ride.
The ground-floor entrance is easy to miss, marked only by a small plaque, and brass lifts carry you up to the lobby on the 31st floor. The lobby is a jungle of potted plants and deep sofas, with a bar beside the windows.
Our room was a Deluxe Tower View room, and Tokyo Tower held our attention the whole stay. It is pale oak and calm, with a Japanese-style wet room for the rain shower and a stone tub, and a handwritten note and a small zen-garden sweet were waiting for us.
Breakfast at The Blue Room is a set plate, Japanese or Western, beautifully presented. In the evening, Gold Bar on the ground floor is dark and softly gilded, one of the most striking hotel bars we know.
The Jade Room, the hotel’s signature restaurant, opens onto the Garden Terrace, with Tokyo Tower right next door.
