The hotel is on the corner of Bay and Adelaide, in the middle of the Financial District. Union Station and the airport train are about five minutes away on foot, and King subway station is next door.
We asked the hotel ahead of time to prepare a few touches for our stay. A butler came by soon after check-in to plan them with us, drew a bath at the hour we asked and brought French-pressed coffee to the room at eight the next morning, right on time.
Our two-bedroom suite on the 26th floor had a dining table under a chandelier, a kitchenette and a separate living room. The main bathroom had heated floors and a television set into the mirror, and the king bed gave us a perfect night’s sleep.
Breakfast was at Louix Louis on the 31st floor, in soft golden light beside a bar of spirits that rises two storeys. One floor up, the pool is heated and long enough for laps, and the gym looks over the city through floor-to-ceiling windows.
