The hotel sits at the top of KK100, above the KK Mall in Luohu. The street-level entrance is quiet, with staff waiting to take you up to the reception on the 96th floor. From Bao’an airport the drive is usually 30 to 40 minutes, longer at rush hour.
We stayed in an Allure Suite, one of the hotel’s suites set over two floors with a staircase between them. Downstairs are the living room, a dining table and a pantry. Upstairs are the king bed, a desk facing windows two storeys high, and a bathroom with double sinks and a tub and shower in one open wet room.
The St. Regis butlers bring tea and coffee to the room at any hour. We asked for pots of ginger tea before bed and coffee the next morning.
Breakfast is at Social, one floor below the lobby, down a staircase that seems to float in the middle of the atrium. The buffet runs from Asian to Western dishes, with cooks making noodle soups, omelettes and eggs to order.
The 96th-floor lobby wraps all the way around the tower, with seating at every window and The St. Regis Bar at the back. The gym and the indoor pool are on the 75th floor, where the treadmills look out over the city.
The height and the two-storey suites make this a stay to remember. We would recommend it for any visit to Shenzhen, and we would stay again.
