The resort sits on a quiet, residential stretch of Longboat Key, with its own beach on the Gulf. We came as a family for a few calm days before the theme parks in Orlando.
Check-in came with a choice of water or prosecco, and staff walked us through the week’s activities, including those for children. Before our butler showed us to the room, the children chose from a treasure chest of toys, kites and games.
Our Grand Deluxe room had two queen beds, a deep soaking tub, double vanities and a balcony over the pools and the Gulf. Housekeeping noticed our glasses and left cleaning cloths beside them, a small touch we remember.
Butlers will pack and unpack, bring a morning coffee and even refresh your swimsuit. Riva, the coastal Italian restaurant, was a family favourite for its handmade pasta, and CW Prime made a fine evening out, with desserts that stood out.
By day, the Resort Pool, the Winding River and the adults-only Vilebrequin Pool & Cabana Club suit every mood, and pool staff come round with treats. In the evening, the St. Regis Bar fills with live music.
The children’s highlights were a sand sculpting class with a professional and snorkelling in the resort’s saltwater lagoon, among rays and tropical fish. The staff at the children’s club were wonderful with them.
