If a room is enough, we’d choose a Mailani Ocean Corner room, on a corner of the tower with a balcony over the beach. For a family, the Mailani Family Loft Suite is on two levels, with the king bed in the loft and a sofa bed, and the Historic 3 Bed Family Room sleeps six.
For a week in the original building, choose a Historic Ocean Suite, with a living room, a wet bar and a dining table for four, looking to the sea. The suite we’d single out is the Kamehameha Suite, in crimson and gold, whose lanai of nearly 1,000 square feet holds a table for eight and a daybed facing Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head.
