Prince Collection’s notes

Our team recommends

The hotel sits on the quiet eastern edge of the city centre, among parks and gardens. St Patrick’s Cathedral and Fitzroy Gardens are under ten minutes away on foot, and Federation Square is about a 20-minute walk.

A long driveway curves up to the entrance, past a water feature. Inside, the lobby is a two-storey atrium of marble, sculpture and dark wood, grander than most Park Hyatts.

We stayed in a Park Suite King, in dark wood and tan leather, with a living room apart from the bedroom. The marble bathroom had double vanities, a large soaking tub and a walk-in shower, with a walk-in wardrobe beside it.

Breakfast is a buffet at radii restaurant & bar, next to the lobby, and we came back in the evening for a steak and a good glass of wine. The 25-metre indoor pool is heated and full of daylight, with whirlpools and a children’s pool, and the gym looks over it.

Who it suits

Our team recommends

Our team found it a calm base at the edge of the city, close to the parks and an easy walk from the centre.

From our guests

Our guests write most about the spacious rooms, the staff and the food.

Which room to ask for

From our guests

Most of our guests take a room with one king bed. For more space, some book the King View Deluxe, which adds a sitting area and a walk-in wardrobe.

Our team recommends

For a separate living room, choose the Park Suite King, the suite our team stayed in.

The suite to know here is the Terrace Suite, with an outdoor terrace of its own looking over St Patrick’s Cathedral and the East Melbourne skyline. For a longer stay, the Diplomat Suite is more than twice the size of the Park Suite, with a fireplace in the living room and a table for four.

What our guests say

What a relaxing stay at this hotel. It had a very old-world luxury feel … and felt like it was an escape from the city, even though it was located near everything. The room was spacious and the closet and bathroom fabulous. Staff were extremely nice and food was exceptional. I ended up spending more time in the hotel than expected.

A.P., June 2025
