Prince Collection’s notes

Our team recommends

The hotel fills the upper floors of the WATERS Takeshiba building on the bay, a few minutes’ walk from Takeshiba Station. The Hamarikyu Gardens are just to the north, and the walk to Tokyo Tower runs through a lively part of Minato full of restaurants and bars.

Staff meet you at the door and take your bags up to the lobby on the 16th floor, where floor-to-ceiling windows look over the water and the gardens. Each evening a pianist plays the grand piano in the lobby lounge, and we caught the performance with a craft beer and the skyline.

Our Chapter 2 room was full of small surprises: a piano that doubles as a speaker, a rotary telephone to call the staff, and a pour-over coffee and matcha set with videos on the iPad showing how to use them. A balcony looked over the waterfront, and the bath, in a wet room with a strong rain shower, fills itself on a timer.

Breakfast at Chef’s Theatre, with windows facing west over the city, mixes Western and Japanese dishes, from rice bowls and miso soup to an omelette station. Whisk, the bar, bases its cocktails on works of art. The staff called us by name wherever we went.

Who it suits

Our team recommends

Our team found it a hotel to spend time in, not just a place to sleep.

Which room to ask for

From our guests

Our guests stay in a Chapter 2 room with a king bed.

Our team recommends

For more space, book a Chapter 3 suite. The one we saw had a living room, a dining table for four and a large balcony over the water.

The Chapter 3 suites take the corners of floors 18 to 24, at more than twice the size of a Chapter 2 room, and come with twin beds for a family. For an occasion, choose Chapter 4, the top-floor suite on the 26th floor, whose balcony over the gardens and the bay is larger than a Chapter 2 room.
