Seoul, South Korea
JW Marriott Hotel Seoul stands in Central City, in the heart of Gangnam, linked to three subway lines and the Shinsegae department store.
Our team recommends
The hotel is linked to the subway, the Express Bus Terminal and the Shinsegae department store, so shopping and dining are right at the door. We stayed four nights with children, as part of a group of families, out exploring by day, and it was a comfortable, welcoming place to come back to.
A sculpture like a strand of pearls cascades from the ceiling of the entrance hall, and check-in is on the 8th floor. Our room wasn’t quite ready, so we waited in the Executive Lounge, where staff brought us our keys, and a welcome of wine, snacks and a small cake followed soon after.
Our one-bedroom suite had a living room with a window seat over the city and a dining table, and a separate bedroom with two double beds. The bathroom was all veined marble, with a soaking tub and a glass shower.
The Executive Lounge was a highlight, with a big breakfast that included Korean dishes and a bibimbap station. The evening spread runs for nearly five hours, with a noodle station and a do-it-yourself cocktail bar.
Guests have full use of the Marquis Fitness Club, with a large indoor pool, squash and basketball courts and a golf simulator. Its Korean bathhouse, separate for men and women, is the best way to end a day of sightseeing.
In summer, the JW Garden is a green, quiet place to sit, and it grows herbs for the hotel’s kitchens.
From our guests

Our team recommends
Our team found it right for families, with many rooms set up with two double beds, and for anyone who wants transport and shopping at the door.
From our guests
Our guests stay in a Deluxe room with a king bed or two double beds.
Our team recommends
For a family, a one-bedroom suite with two double beds adds a separate living room. There are only a few, so book early.
If a room is enough, choose a room with Executive Lounge access, the highlight of our stay. The suites, by the design firm Olson Kundig, face the Han River or the city. The one we’d single out is the Ambassador Penthouse, on several levels with a private elevator, a grand staircase and a music room with Bang & Olufsen speakers.
