Our team recommends
It was one of Canada’s original grand railway hotels, and the lobby still has the dark wood of the 1920s, now with marble and soft light from its renovation. You can also walk in underground from Union subway station.
We moved up to a Fairmont Gold Suite on the 14th floor, in navy and soft gold, with a marble foyer and an all-marble bathroom. Le Labo products came in suite-sized bottles, and the king bed was immaculate.
Fairmont Gold works as a hotel within the hotel. Its lounge has a glass-encased fireplace and a library corner for work, with breakfast in the morning and canapés in the evening.
We’d book a room on the Fairmont Gold floor for the full experience of the hotel.

For more space and the lounge, request Fairmont Gold. Our Fairmont Gold Suite had a separate living room, a table for dining or work, and views over Union Station toward the harbourfront.
Without a suite, choose a Signature King, twice the size of the standard rooms, with a large living area; families do well in a Deluxe room with two double beds and a sofa. The Junior Suites add a separate bedroom area and two full bathrooms. For a family or two couples, the Executive Suite has two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and a large living and dining area with a bar.

Compared with any other hotel I’ve stayed at in Toronto, the main lobby’s ambience is unlike any other, especially on weekends. It is always lively, with the Clockwork bar and Reign restaurant.
