Our team recommends
The Blackcomb Gondola is a few steps from the door, and you can ski right to the terrace of the Mallard Lounge. The heart of the village is a 10-minute walk, or a free shuttle from the foot of the drive.
Our Deluxe Slopeside View Room, on the top floor under a sloped ceiling, felt like a private chalet, with a live-edge headboard and skiers coming down Blackcomb outside the window. Fruit and chocolate from Whistler and the Fraser Valley were waiting for us.
On another stay we had a Fairmont Gold room, with a gas fireplace and a deep bathtub. The Fairmont Gold lounge, alpine in stone and leather around a fireplace, served breakfast, afternoon tea with hot cocoa, and evening hors d’oeuvres generous enough for dinner.
The health club has a heated outdoor lap pool, a second pool that runs indoors and out, hot tubs and eucalyptus steam rooms, all with the mountains behind them. Vida Spa is in the hotel too.
We’d recommend it to anyone planning a luxurious ski trip.

For the mountain outside your window, request a Deluxe Slopeside View room. A Fairmont Gold room adds the lounge, which we’d book again.
For a living room of your own facing the runs, choose the One Bedroom Slopeside View Suite, or the One Bedroom Mountain View Corner Suite, with Whistler and Blackcomb both in view. Our pick of the suites is the Fairmont Gold Penthouse, a loft with 25-foot windows, a gas fireplace and the Gold lounge. Families do well in the Two Bedroom Slopeside View Suite, with a fireplace in the living room.
