Melbourne, Australia
Grand Hyatt Melbourne stands on Collins Street in the East End of the city centre, with Flinders Lane beside it and the Yarra River a few minutes away.
Our team recommends
The hotel fills a block between Collins Street and Flinders Lane, a few minutes’ walk from the river. The main entrance is on Russell Street, and a quieter one opens onto the luxury shops of Collins Street.
At check-in, the associate spent several minutes with us on the best things to do on a first visit to Melbourne. Our king room on the 28th floor looked over the Yarra River, with its parks and Southbank beyond, and the bed faced straight out to the view.
The hotel’s gym, City Club Health & Fitness, is a proper club with power racks and bench presses, open to locals as well as guests. Breakfast at Collins Kitchen leans towards Asia, with dim sum, noodles, fried rice and miso soup beside the eggs and bacon.
One evening a chicken laksa came up from room service, the broth poured into the bowl in front of us. On our last day the hotel kept our bags until our car to the airport in the afternoon.

Every suite here includes the Grand Club Lounge on level 31, with breakfast and evening drinks and canapés. The entry suite is the Grand Suite, a true suite with a separate living room and wide views across the city.
The standout suite is the Diplomatic Suite, over the Yarra River and the skyline, with a sunken spa tub and a dining table for eight. For families or a longer stay, the Ambassador Suite has a kitchenette and a dining area, and can be set up with a second room of twin beds.
From our guests
The hotel was beautiful, with an amazing location close to everything. All the hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Particularly in the lounge, James went out of his way to make sure he learned about my dietary restrictions. James and Chef Carla were eager to accommodate my dietary preferences and ensure I had an exceptional experience in the lounge. It was an absolutely lovely time.
Another fantastic hotel, and what a lovely welcome gift: a bottle of wine, a beautiful artistic chocolate bar and a nice note. So sweet.
