The resort sits on a slender islet on the outer reef, on the northeast side of Bora Bora, about ten minutes by boat from the airport. A boat met us on arrival, and the staff took our bags straight to our bungalow.
We stayed in a One-Bedroom Mountain-View Overwater Bungalow Suite, along a pontoon with Mount Otemanu ahead. Under the thatched roof it is all teak and local art, with a lofted bedroom, and Champagne and pastries were waiting for us.
The bathroom has a glass panel in the floor onto the lagoon and a tub for two facing the view. Fill it and open the partitions to the deck, and it feels almost like a pool of your own.
Te Mahana Spa sits on the highest ground in the resort, reached by raised walkways over pandanus trees. Its heated relaxation pools look out to the mountain and to the ocean.
By the main pool, curtained cabanas go first come, first served, and we spent our last day in one. Kayaks are there to borrow for the lagoon.
